QUESTIONS ABOUT RESERVATIONS, AVAILABILITY AND CANCELLATIONS
How do I know you have space available?
If you reserve 7 to 10 days in advance you have a 90% chance we have space for you on one of our share fish boats. We recommend you send in your reservation complete with your credit card information and if space is not available we will call and tell you when space is available. So be sure to include your phone number on your reservation form.
Is it possible to make a share fishing reservation when I get to the area?
We do recommend you make your fishing reservations as far in advance as possible so that you are sure to your share fish trip when you want to go. During the high season from January to August there are many times we have no boats available 2-3 days in advance. To reserve once you arrive in Cancun call us at 898-4312 or if you are outside Cancun in the Riviera Maya or Puerto Aventuras call us at 01-998-898-4312. From the states call 1-800-860-5917.
What is your cancellation policy?
You can cancel any fishing trip up to 24 hours before departure and only pay a 5% administrative processing fee. If the trip is cancelled because the port is closed by the port captain then you will receive a 100% refund. Click Here! To see all Cancellation and Change Policy.
Is the pricing on the website correct?
Yes. The prices are accurate and complete meaning that there are no additional charges. At the end of the trip a tip is optional but generally a tip of 15% - 20% of the share fish price depending on how successful your crew was for you.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BOATS
How many people can go on the boat?
We use boats for share trips that accommodate 5 fishermen and 2 observers as a maximum.
Do you have English speaking captains?
Our captains and crew speak at least “fishing English.” The language will not be a problem.
Do the boats have a bathroom on board?
Yes.
Do I need to bring anything?
We do recommend you bring a hat and sunglasses and sun block.
Food is not provided, so you may want to bring a lunch or snacks. “Raid” the breakfast bar at your all inclusive hotel or stop at the convenience store right in front of where you check in for your fishing trip. Remember we do provide beer, so if you want beer you will need to bring your own. Again the convenience store in front of the office has beer.
As far as fishing tackle is concerned you do not need to bring anything. We provide all bait and tackle.
Will I get seasick?
Seasickness depends on the individual and the conditions of the sea the day you go fishing. We recommend that if you do not know if you get seasick that you take a commercial motion sickness medication or use the wrist bands or patches that go behind the ear. The latest remedy for seasickness is Ginger pills available from your local health food store. Why take a chance on having your fun day turn into a bad day?

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE FISHING
Will I catch a fish?
Yes, on a share fish trip we ALMOST guarantee everyone will catch a fish! We do not guarantee what specie or what size fish, but we do our best to see that you catch a fish.
What can we expect to catch?
What you will catch depends on the time of year you come fishing.
To see the various species that you may catch click here to see a calendar.
Who determines who catches the first fish, second fish and so on?
Women and children first –just like when you abandon ship - then the guys determine in what order they are going to bring in the following fish.
Do you do trolling or bottom fishing?
When you go share fishing the captain decides if you troll or bottom fish because it is his job to make sure everyone catches something. So he will use all his talents to meet that goal.
When we troll we will fish 5 lines, 2 from the outriggers, 2 flat lines (maybe a downrigger) and 1 from the flying bridge. See the question above to determine who catches the first fish.
We want to catch bill fish. What do you recommend?
If you really want bill fish like Sails and Marlin we recommend you charter a boat and go for that specie. Second, take an 8 hour charter. You enhance your chances.
Third, tell the captain at check in that your main interest is “billfish.”
While on a share fish trip you may catch a bill fish - we have many that do – but we do not necessarily go fishing specifically for “billfish” on a share charter.
How much travel time, non-fishing time, is there?
The fishing grounds are right as we exit the marina. You will be fishing in 10 minutes unless the captain is going to a particular spot for a particular reason.
What kind of bait do you use?
We use ballyhoo, mullet, and lures. We will vary the baits depending on the fish available at the particular time of year you go.
Do you catch and release?
Game fish which are not edible (sailfish, and marlin) are released. If you want to mount a fish then those fish are brought in so we can send them off to be mounted.
I want to mount my catch. Can I do that?
Yes the staff at the dock will arrange everything for you and they can tell you pricing for the mounting job.
How much tip should I give?
Generally for good to excellent service a 15% to 20% tip is given if the crew is appropriate.
Do you do any snorkeling on a share trip?
No share fishing is just a fishing trip. If you want to make a combination snorkel and fishing trip you will need to charter a boat. Click here for chartering information.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE FISHING TACKLE
What size tackle do you use?
Some of the tackle is 50 lb. test rigs and some is 80 lb. test rigs.
Do you have any light tackle or fly fishing tackle?
No. On a share fish trip we are not set up for light tackle or fly fishing. For those specialized fishing you will need to charter a boat or see or other fly fishing opportunities. Click here to see spin tackle and fly fishing opportunities.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE FISH WE CATCH
What happens to the fish we catch?
All billfish caught are released unless you want to mount them. Then we bring them in and they will be sent away for mounting.
Edible fish are put in the cooler and can be part of your “tip” for the crew or the crew will gladly filet them for you. Then you take your catch to your favorite Cancun, Playa del Carmen or hotel restaurant for that evening’s dinner.
We strongly recommend that you take some fish filets and go to a local restaurant for dinner. The concierge in your hotel can make restaurant recommendations; the crew at the dock can make recommendations. One fun way to end a day of fishing is to eat your “fresh catch.”
We also recommend that you have the restaurant prepare you catch 3 different ways. Then you decide which is your favorite. By the way, your meal will cost about $10-$12 USD per person with side dishes when you bring the fish.
Your “all inclusive” hotel may or may not prepare the fish for you depending on hotel policy. They sometimes have liability issues but ask anyway.
What are the best fish to take to eat?
The best fish for your dinner will be Dorado (Mahi Mahi,) Wahoo, King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Snapper, and Grouper and Trigger fish. Any of these will make for an unforgettable dinner.
Can I take fish back to the U.S. in an ice chest?
You can but we do not recommend it. Since security has been tightened at all airports worldwide we do not recommend you try to take edible fish back to the U.S. First the airlines no longer accept Styrofoam ice chest, and securing dry ice will cost you more time and effort than it is worth. Then you will have delays on arrival in the U.S. while your baggage is checked. Eat your fish here and savory your vacation memories.
