Think of how exhilarating it will be to snorkel with the largest fish in the sea - The Whale Shark! The whale sharks come to Holbox Island and Isla Mujeres off the Yucatan coast near Cancun where the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea merge. An upwelling current brings plankton laden nutrient rich waters. It is in these waters where Whale Sharks come to feed in the months of June, July and August. This “plankton bloom” provides the environment for this area to have the highest concentration of Whale Sharks in the world.
We take you in a 35 foot boat with two 200 horsepower engines directly from Cancun. No long travel time from Cancun to Holbox and then out to see the Whale Sharks! You and your guides will be searching for these gentle giants within 40 minutes of leaving the Cancun dock.
You might want to know that the water visibility is normally 20 to 30 feet for snorkeling with the Whale Sharks. I wonder whether you are aware of the fact that the reason that water is not clearer is because of all the microscopic plankton in the water. There is so much plankton in the water is like swimming in a milk shake. The plankton is the reason why the Whale Sharks gather here.
Weather permitting and if sea conditions are good you will get to snorkel with the Whale Sharks. We allow two people in the water at a time with life jackets and a guide. All people on the boat (10 people max) will be given the opportunity to snorkel. One of the things you’re going to love about your Whale Shark Adventure is that you can go back in the water again if you like – in fact you can go back in the water as many times as you like once everyone has snorkeled once! You will be taken to Puerto Juarez in Cancun where you will board a high speed boat to go
to the area where the Whale Sharks are.
8:00 to 9:00 am
Travel You will travel aboard our high speed boats to the Whale Shark feeding grounds.
The normal travel time is 40 minutes but we allow an hour for travel and finding the Whale Sharks.
9:00 to 11:00 am
Snorkel with the Whale Sharks You will get even more excited when you realize that you will get in the water 2 people at a time with your guide!.
12:00 to 1:00 pm
Snorkel on a reef near Isla Mujeres You will reef snorkel for 30 minutes while your guides prepare you a nice fresh shrimp ceviche. Enjoy a snack and soft drinks before returning to the dock..

Return hour to Puerto Juarez You will board your van and go back to your Playa del Carmen - Riviera Maya Hotel and get there about 3:00 PM or You will board your van and go back to your Cancun Hotel arriving about 1:30 PM.

Note: We maintain GPS coordinates where the whale sharks are during the months of June, July and August. Please understand that they move with the plankton which moves with the currents in the sea. Please remember these giant fish are swimming in the open sea and not in a tank or penned-in area. So the actual time to get to the Whale Sharks depends on where there food supply of plankton is located. However we do guarantee we will find them from June to August.

Where is the departure point?
You will depart from a Marina in Cancun which is the closest point from Cancun to the area where the Whale Sharks are located. We have hotel pickup so you do not need to worry about how to get there.
We have a car and want to drive to departure point. Can we?

What should I bring on the tour?
Light clothing over your bathing suit is recommended. Also bring sunglasses, a towel, sunscreen, and a cap or hat. Snorkeling gear is provided but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
If we snorkel with the whale sharks will we be in danger?
While the whale sharks are gentle animals, they are in the wild. You will not have a problem if you do not make rapid movements toward them or try to grab their fins and ride them. If you do you may be greeted with a tail fin that is as big a door headed your way.Have no fear they will not eat you, they are there for the plankton which you will see in the water and witness them scooping up.
Where are the Whale Sharks?
The Whale Sharks are in the plankton laden waters off Holbox, which is where the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea meet. Depending on the exact location of the sharks you will travel about 1 hour off shore.
Will I get seasick?
Seasickness depends on the individual and the conditions of the sea the day you go. We recommend that if you do not know if you get seasick that you take a commercial motion sickness medication or use the wrist bands or patches that go behind the ear.

How do I know you have space available?
If you reserve 10 to 30 days in advance you have a 99% chance we have space for you. We recommend you send in your reservation, complete with your credit card information, and if space is not available we will call or email you with when space is available. So be sure to include your phone number on your reservation form.
Is it possible to make a reservation when I get to the Cancun or Riviera Maya?
We do recommend you make your reservations as far in advance as possible so that you are sure to get the trip when you want to go. During the high season from January to August there are many times we have no space available 2-3 days in advance. To make your reservation once you arrive in Cancun call us at 898-4312 or if you are in the Riviera Maya call us at 01-998-898-4312, and from the states 1-800-860-5917. If you have a U.S. cell phone while in Mexico you may also dial 1-800-860-5917 to reserve.
What is your cancellation policy?
You can cancel any tour up to 24 hours before departure and only pay a 5% administrative processing fee. If the trip is cancelled because the port is closed or due to bad weather then you will receive a 100% refund. Is the pricing on the website correct?
Yes- we guarantee the prices you see. The prices are accurate and complete meaning that there are no additional charges. Our guarantee is that you will not pay more than that published price on our website. At the end of the tour a tip is optional and is generally 10% - 15% of the price depending on how much you like the tour and the service provided.
How can I check the status of my reservation?
It is our objective that you know what is happening with your reservation. We will send you an update if we are going to be than 48 business hours getting you a response.
